Was Sazero's post accepted as a rule ? I dont see it confirmed anywhere. I realy dont see a problem if people want to create their own character. I would let them as long as they fit into the role playing system we will agree upon. And tbh its hard to play a role if you dont fit at least a little into it. Sounds to hardcore rp to me and i dont think we want that, or do we?

No, its not a concrete rule. It wouldnt work for recruiting new blood into the guild and things. Its certainly been a fun way to start though, for me and a few others.

I'd think, as long as you write a profile and post it up so we all know where you're coming from things should be ok.

We would prefer people to have characters written for them, but they dont have to.

To be honest I was just keen to get on in one way or another so I didn't miss too much - and since a number of people had already written their own chars I didn't see it as too big a problem.

Re: the guild signing thing, it's partly why I suggested there should be some kind of background to the guild and why we were all in it... and that's pretty much how it happened in the game - except I spoke to Dragory in OOC chat first and he came to meet me - so I should have written that a voice in my head told me to go meet a Tauren druid and sign a guild charter?

So yeah it sucked - i agree with you 100% on that - biggest mistake was bothering to post something without really thinking about it! Especially as the background was just a space-filler, written in retrospect since I though I had better put *something* up, and it contained no real content whatsoever apart from the name...

Ofcourse, we are all human beings and if you think your RP character is too hard to RP just say so.

But I also thought that the idea behind the RP guild, was that you were given a role that you might find interesting. Some ideas might have been written into it that you wouldn't have thought of yourself. Or would have you think differently than you would normally do.

If theres something you didn't like about your character, you have two options.

1. You can veto something, but only 1 thing.

2. Ask for a new character to be written.

There should also be something remotely consistent in writing your character, something that doesn't break the suspend of disbelief and quite possibly giving a personality description.

Well , how about that we think about a general purpose and storyline first then write profiles which fit into that and go with that? Just having a character according to someone's idea that doesnt fit anywhere i dont think thats much of a RP either.

That wouldn't really work either since we have an evergrowing cast and it's quite unstable wether said members stay or not. But I the general rule is that it should fit somewhat according to establisted warcraft lore or something that could be possible given a reasonable explanation.

Besides role play is just acting, you don't need a story line to act as a character.

Thirdly it's also a question wether or not everyone should know the story line. Because if everyone knew that, it would just rob you of the liberty of making your own decisitions to grow your character in a way you might see fit. Sure you can't just say "oh yeah and my character is a evil bitch now because she didnt get that green item"

But you can make a few choices here an there like "The mental impact of her friends dying made her lose her voice forever" and then would have to communicate through emotes.

Theres also the mystery, in not knowing what happens.
Is the guild actually trying to make its members into slaves?
What effects does digging for dead sand gnomes have?
Can we really trust person X?

In that regard we should probaly have proceeded to PM people their characters if we wanted to make a storyline.

And fifthly the characters written is what we would think would be interesting or fun for that person to play as.
Like me being a nice orc, or Teya being a social reject Tauren.

She is a strict person that leaves no weakness unpunished, no mistakes unexploited. And she is sure as the Twisting Nether to point out if you fucked up. She have alot of experience of the world of Azeroth, being it local lore, language, or magic. This makes her confident in her abilities as a hunter. However she still have difficulties socialising with others as she is prune to point out the flaws of others, that is not always taken as intended.
She sees it as an oppertunity to improve the succes rate of whatever task they might have. They see it as a insult.
Her relationship with her sister is competitive, and she strives to be better than her to the point of causing undue stress to her body and mind. She will also fill you with metal death, if you ever tell her what to do.

Background:
She grew up as a typical girl, being shy and hide behind her older sister. She made her own friends slowly but surely, but her relationship with them were all but superficial and a means of getting to know her sister.
Realizing this she threw away her old self and became the woman she is today, thinking for herself, acting for herself, training for herself. Ironically this made her peers more interested in her, but she had already distanced herself from all, but her beastly partners witch she values more than unnessesary "friends".
Hearing her dear sister entered a guild "Bane of Uther". She in order to surpass her entered the same guild.

This character is not uber super polished like most but atleast its not vengeance plot 9000

Open and caring, with a fun loving attitude. She is popular with males and a complete flirt! Unlike her sister who has to work hard to achieve her goals, Kaliar finds success quite easily. She is a naturally talented huntress and keen to pass on her skills to others. She is always available to lend a listening ear and enjoys teaming up with others to achieve their joint goals... Unless this other person is her sister, Aresh'Anamsu. She shares a fierce rivalry with her younger sister, and attempts to avoid her as much as possible; unless she is demonstrating her new skills and findings.

Background:
The eldest of three, Kaliar was a little spoilt by her parents in her younger years, often getting what she wanted, when she wanted it. When her sister arrived, things changed. Their parents encouraged rivalry between the girls, always trying to see which girl was stronger, wiser and more able. Little did she know, Aresh'Anamsu had always looked up to her and admired her.

There was a brother too, but he walked out into Eversong Woods one day but was attacked by a ghostpaw lynx. Both sisters cared greatly for their younger brother and Kaliar vowed to become a huntress, ensuring that this would not happen to another child. Naturarlly, Aresh'Anamsu followed suit.

Kaliar moved out of home as soon as she was old enough. She trained her skills in the forest of Eversong and gathered ores as a means of living. Whilst out in the forest one day, near the waterfall, she ran into a goblin who taught her his trade of engineering as a way to make more profit and indeed use from the ores she was gathering. All he asked for in return was the horn of one Tauren.

Following the death of her parents in the Scourge seige of Silvermoon, Kaliar returned home, to guard the family home and watch over her sister, all be it begrudgenly. Soon, she grew tired of life at home and began to adventure further, finding herself a group of fellow adventures whom were collectively known as the Bane of Uther, to travel with.

Background: Growing up in the slums of Ogrimmar, Neuxia learnt to look after herself. She quickly mastered the use of a dagger as a multi-purpose tool. Many a time she was attacked by perverted orcs and hungry beggers for many reason and it was her will to survive that made her stand out. In the winters she would catch rats for sustinance and eventually realised that their pelts could be used to create many forms of protections, a pair of boots, a blanket or cape for warmth. She took to being a pickpocket when begging became unprofitable and quickly learned of the value in it. Now she does it more from desire then need, a cleptomanic it seems, she steals because she can and not because she needs to. Despite being a sneak thief she prefers seeing the look on her enemies eyes as she plunges her dagger into them, the terror it brings when they realize it is all over.
To her friends which are few, she is kind and generous, she see potential in them and values their companionship. She would never steal from them and takes comfort in knowing her generosity towards will always be returned, whether it be the form of a room for the night with a hot meal and cozy fire or a sword and shield to protect her and strike he foes. As she grew she gradually learnt how to use swords to defend herself, carrying a small one with her where she goes it works as more of a warning and deterrent then as a tool of death, still she carries her first knife everywhere and uses it for skinning though.
On a recent trip to Ragefire Cavern in Ogrimmar she met a druid and warrior who she has kept in contact with since, they introduced her to a guild of heros where she was welcomed into and treated with dignity and respect, in return for their kindness Neuxia does all she can to aid the people she now considers family.

Personality: A fear of being returned to the life she hopes she has left Neuxia does all she can to stay on the winning side, avoiding conflict with friends and lending services she strives to be accepted, her mannerisms are polite and dignified, she hates being a rogue but has never known anything else and fears change. She works hard to keep a few gold in her purse should the need arise, an adept healer taught her how to wrap wounds with simple bandages.

While serving his Squireship Kurik still couldn't keep himself out of trouble, but managed to avoid serious punishment due to his ability to fast talk his mentors. After finally winning his spurs Kurik set out to discover to world at large, with a thirst for adventure and a ability with a blacksmiths hammer for which he continually thanks his father he can support himself when needed with his affinity for blacksmithing and mining.

Personality: With a flair for trouble and getting into fights Kurik never fails to find battle. His quick mouth almost always proves the perfect start to a grand battle, and his wit certainly makes for an entertaining fight..

Lily (Usiel) and myself decided to come up with each other's characters. I hope that's ok.

Person who is gonna play as that character: Lily
Name: Usiel
Sex: Female
Race: Undead
Class: Mage

Personality: Usiel is not as fiery as her younger sister. She is a studious, quiet creature who enjoys solitude. She is quick to protect the only person she has left in the world but is also often forced to protect other people FROM Uriiel. She strives to prove to the world that not all Undead are the Scourge and that in truth, the Undead are victims of a madman's schemes. At the same time, she hates with every fiber of her being the Scourge, their creator and humanity in general.

Background: In life, Usiel was not much different than she is now. She studied magic from a young age and was devoted to her little sister. Her family was a close-knit bunch who went without many times to see to it that Usiel was able to finish her training to be a mage. Magic was an intricate part of her life and she lived and breathed it like air. She, of course, finished her magical studies and went out into the world as a mage, but there, everything changed. The Scourge were released upon Azeroth, bringing the Plague with them.
Usiel fought hard to protect her village from the Plague, as did Uriiel. Eventually, realizing that it was only a matter of time before their people fell to the Plague, Uriiel and Usiel made a decision. They delved into forbidden magics to scry for a cure for the Plague. With Usiel doing the scrying and Uriiel recording the answers they sought, it seemed as though a cure was very close. Unfortunately, the two had not thought to keep their plans a secret and within the hour were betrayed to the village Elders.
The judgment was swift and brutal. Usiel, the seer, had her eyes sliced out and Uriiel, the speaker, had the flesh of her mouth burned off. Then the two were driven from their village. Injured as they were, it was not long before they fell to the Plague and rose again as Scourge before being liberated by Sylvanus.

As an Undead, Uriel remembers very well her former life, and these memories eat at her. Every time she looks upon her own undead flesh, she is filled with loathing for what she has become. She fights constantly against the Hunger that gnaws at her but there are times when she can no longer fight it and feasts upon the flesh of humans, later feeling sick within for what she is. She devotes her time to finding a cure for her own undeath, wishing more than anything to be returned to her former, human state.
At the same time, Uriel holds a burning, seething hatred, not just for the Scourge and their creator, but for humans. Humans, in her opinion, are entirely to blame for what she is today. Had they not turned against her even as she tried to help them, she would be alive and unchanged.
There was also one small backlash from the demonic ritual. The energy/entity Usiel conjured for answers as to the cure left a small amount of backlash. Now, Usiel sees not only the present, but the past and future and sometimes has trouble figuring out which of these she is actually "in". As a result, she will sometimes say or do strange things, talk to creatures that are not perceptible to others and mumble incoherently.

Name: Uriiel

Race: Undead
Class: Warlock

Personality: Uriiel is a classic Undead. She hates the living, especially humanity. She wishes nothing more than to see them wiped off the face of Azeroth, right along with the Scourge. That being said, she is constantly experimenting, studying or seeking new ways to gain power. She is ambitious and cruel when it comes to furthering her own ends. She will use whoever she must and will let nothing stand in her way. However, Uriiel also has a soft spot for those weaker than her. Having known the frustrating fury of being forced to stand by helplessly while those she loved were hurt, she will generally help those who need her help as long as it doesn't jeopardize her plans. She has a hot temper and no tolerance for bullies and has been known to incinerate them, forcing Usiel to intervene on more than one occasion.

Background: Uriiel's life, up until the coming of the plague, was not much different than Usiel's. Like Usiel, she studied the arcane. Although she always had a fascination with the dark arts and studied them in secret, she never got up the nerve to practice these "forbidden magics" until the coming of the Plague. It was she who told Usiel of the scrying ritual that would help them gain a cure, convincing her that using their magic was the only way to save the village, while secretly feeling a trill that together they would be able to put into practice the profane arts she had been studying for so long.
The ritual went well. Everything was perfect and Uriiel recorded every word spoken by Usiel in her magic-induced trance. Together they hurried to tell the Elders of the village of the cure...where they met their fate.
After they rose again as the Scourge and were freed from the grasp of the Lich King, Uriiel and Usiel fashioned a new mouth for Uriiel from the flesh of their victims. It fits oddly and is crudely stitched, but it serves its purpose and Uriiel cares little for looks in her present state.

In death, Uriiel, too, remembers their former lives perfectly. However, she does not see undeath as a curse, as Usiel does. Rather, she sees it as a gift, in a sense. Their magic prevents decay from taking its toll. She will never age and is free to devote as much time as she wishes to the study of dark magic, which she may now practice without fear of reprisal. She sneers at those who would hunt them, for she considers their hatred of them to be nothing more than ignorance. She embraces the Hunger, seeing it as a perfection. What better way to absorb the power of your enemies than to consume their flesh?
Despite the many attributes that others would see as flaws, Uriiel is fiercely protective of the one person in all of Azeroth she cares for: her sister, and she will destroy anyone who threatens, hurts or bothers Usiel without a thought. Many unfortunate souls have met their deaths by commenting that Usiel is insane.
Uriiel, too, has not forgotten the village that destroyed their lives. Though she has advanced, she plans one day to return home and slaughter every last man, woman and child their in the slowest, most painful manner she can devise. If she ever has enough power, she will do the same to every human in Azeroth.
